Executive Director

As a diplomatic leader, we will rely on you to plan, develop and establish policies and objectives of the business organization in accordance with Board/Executive Management directives and corporation charter by performing the following duties:

  • Confer with company officials to plan business objectives, to develop budget, to develop organizational policies, to participate in research and development of new products
  • Coordinate functions and operations between departments and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining goals and objectives
  • Manage full breadth of company functions: finance, marketing, accounting, operations
  • Establish initiatives to ensure growth of organization
  • Develop, update and execute the Virtual multiyear strategic plan and annual business plan
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of liaisons with other standards and industry bodies
  • Ensure that Virtual is well represented at major industry meetings and events
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining goals and objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions
  • Explore and recommend changes for additional service offerings as needed to expand Virtual activities relative to the standardization life cycle
  • Direct and coordinate formulation of financial programs to provide funding for new or continuing operations to maximize returns on investments and to increase productivity and maintain high satisfaction
  • Directly manage internal staff, evaluate performance of managers for compliance with established policies and objectives of firm and contributions in attaining objectives
  • Ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government and customer policies, procedures and regulations
  • Maintain, update, supervise and monitor compliance with organization-wide risk avoidance policy
  • Plan and develop public relations policies designed to improve company's image and relations with customers, employees and public
  • Serve as chairman of committees such as management, executive, technical and member section operations

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree with 10 plus years technical experience highly desirable. Knowledge of member organizations required. Ability to succeed in a client services environment while triaging work with multiple constituencies along with strong project management skills are essential to this role. Senior-level supervisory, communication and administration skills coupled with high energy level and ability to interact with staff and clients at all levels required. The successful technically savvy leader will possess a can-do, "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude and demeanor and the ability to travel; 5-10% both international and domestic, valid passport required. Experience working with or for Associations is strongly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in assessing, developing and implementing business procedures, policies and rules driven by legal, operational and business objectives required. Experience in identifying and addressing business, legal and information management policy issues in complex project environments essential.
